CRIME WATCH PROGRAM

IMPORTANT NOTICE!
In mid January a person was seen in the backyard of a neighbor’s house on Sweetbriar Lane in the late evening. The police were called, however, by the time they arrived the person was gone. For further information about this matter please contact our Crime Watch contact person Bette Guest at 817-503-8750. Our neighborhood is very lucky to enjoy a relatively low number of crimes, most of which are really minor in nature. We like to think that one of the primary reasons is that our homeowners are very diligent in watching out for suspicious activities and are generally aware of what is going on routinely in our neighborhood.

A Crime Watch report is presented at each meeting and also included in the minutes of each meeting.

Helpful Reminders
The Association’s Crime Watch Program is proactive in nature, working to keep crime statistics in our neighborhood at a low level. Sound defensive measures, vigilance, and reporting are the key factors to our program. The following are some recommended guidelines:

Be cautious regarding door-to-door solicitors. If you answer the door, ask for a Colleyville Permit and a non-business related picture ID (i.e., a driver’s license). Allowing access to your home is not recommended. If you are not interested in their offering, be firm in saying NO!
Have an operation light illuminating the front of your house at night and any other areas that would allow intruder access. (Lights are a proven deterrent.)
Periodically change the code to your automatic garage door opening system.
Know your neighbors, their work schedules and watch out for each other, especially during vacation absences.
When returning home, do not turn into your driveway if you sense you are being followed.

YOU’RE ACTIONS:
• Do not hesitate to call the Colleyville Police Department (911) to report any incident or suspicious activity.
• Call your association’s Crime Watch Officers after you call the Police.

EVEN IF THE POLICE ARE NOT CALLED….

REPORT ALL ACTIVITY TO YOUR CRIMEWATCH OFFICERS
